about Blinde

Richard Walker is on a mission to push sunglass design to the limit. He began in his South Florida studio seven years ago where he created his first Blinde collection by hand sculpting frames. Blinde is now headquartered in New York City. In a crowded marketplace of often-indistinguishable sunglasses, his designs have a distinct edge. The diffference is dimensional. Walker conceives of sunglasses as sculpture in the round, a 3D process, whereas the most common method is to sketch the frames flat on a piece of paper — strictly 2D.

From his early childhood, he has lived to do what he loves most: skateboard, snowboard and surf. These passions still define his lifestyle and provide inspiration for his design aesthetic. In his design process, it is natural for Walker to visualize an imaginary point of focus. He then plots a path, around, under or through to go to it. The sleek lines and smooth curves of his Blinde sunglass designs have become a staple in the wardrobes of top fashion trendsetters, celebrities, and in the world of extreme sports.
